Helping You Make the Most of Every Minute

New Solutions K12 helps turn typical middle and high school schedules into strategic schedules that improve outcomes and opportunities for students. Strategic schedules are designed by ensuring teaching and learning best practices and student need guide every decision made when building the schedule. This is foundational to every level of scheduling support we offer to schools and districts.

School scheduling, especially at the secondary level, is complex. The good news is, with knowledge of scheduling best practices, a thoughtful scheduling process, and the right expertise and tools, a better, more strategic schedule – one that is good for students, for teachers, and for the budget – is entirely within reach.

Our Services

At New Solutions K12, we bring together deep knowledge of best practices and decades of experience helping middle and high schools across the country shift how they approach scheduling and design more strategic schedules.

Whether you’re looking for comprehensive, hands-on support for designing and building a strategic schedule or want to learn about what makes a school schedule strategic and how to build a better schedule yourself, our experts are here to help.

Comprehensive Support for Designing and Implementing Strategic Secondary Schedules

We can help design and implement strategic secondary schedules that improve the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of how time is used in the school day. This facilitated schedule-design and change-management process takes place over a period of months as New Solutions K12 experts:

  • Review existing schedules in robust detail, analyzing how time and staff resources are currently allocated

  • Deliver concrete, context-specific recommendations on how the schools and district can change schedules to improve academic outcomes and student engagement cost-effectively

  • Help teams identify what is most important for their “post-pandemic” schedules to best support student learning and engagement, such as intervention, advisory, student voice and choice, social-emotional learning, etc.

  • Provide facilitation and technical support, as requested, for building the schedule to support these priorities

  • Offer guidance for how to implement the schedule well to ensure it has the desired impact on student learning and teacher effectiveness

Technical Secondary-Schedule Building Support

Once you’ve figured out what to schedule, building the schedule well is essential to successfully creating strategic school schedules. Building staff and student schedules in scheduling software or in Excel requires specific technical skills and expertise, and not everyone is an expert scheduler. At the secondary level, an untrained scheduler may unintentionally build a schedule that results in inefficient use of staff and students missing out on courses they would have otherwise been able to take.

Our team of experts has decades of experience building school schedules, and we can provide technical support to build schedules that successfully implement your schedule priorities.

Light-Touch Technical Support & Thought Partnership

Our experts coach your schedulers through the schedule-building process. We will:

  • Help identify key questions, challenges, and needs related to building individual school schedules through an initial consultation

  • Serve as an on-going thought partner, helping your schedulers troubleshoot and think through scheduling hurdles, reviewing documents and draft schedules, if desired, and advising on schedule creation

Hands-On Technical Scheduling Support

In this in-depth, “hands-on-the-keyboard” service, our experts will build the schedule for you. In addition to all of what’s included in the Light-Touch service, we will:

  • Partner with school leadership to understand schedule priorities

  • Build the schedule using your scheduling software (or Excel for Elementary schedules)

  • Provide data-collection templates, if needed, for the key data and information needed to build the schedule

  • Strengthen your team’s capacity for scheduling in the future with a 90-minute PD session tailored to the needs and interests of the team
